1950 Jaguar “Alloy” XK120
CKL are delighted to offer this 1950 Jaguar XK120 ‘Alloy’ Competition Roadster. Chassis number ‘670119’ was produced as one of the 240 lightweight alloy roadsters, which today, are highly sought after. This very attractive example was manufactured on February 8th, 1950 and was sold to its first owner in New York, from where it would be enjoyed and indeed occasionally raced at Club level events.
670119 would become part of the legendary Walter Hill collection in Florida from 1985 to 2005 where it was maintained but only lightly used. In 2005, the collection was sold and split up. The alloy XK120 roadster was purchased and passed through Bob Baker’s specialist restoration shop in Phoenix, Arizona.
The car was then bought by its current owner who would bring the car to CKL in 2010 to be brought back to life, including an engine refresh, back axle overhaul, some body attention as well as general sympathetic re-commissioning. Care was taken not to lose the original patina of this remarkable survivor during this work.
The car has bucket seats and aero-screens, and remains matching-number except for the cylinder head which was changed in period for one with bigger valves. The engine is fitted with huge 2 inch sand-cast aluminium H8 C type carburetors and a sports exhaust. The car stands on aluminium-rim wire wheels.
