1965 Jaguar E-type Series 1 FHC 4.2

The 4.2 E-type would make its debut in October 1964, as part of Jaguar’s introduction of the new 4.2L straight six engine which had been developed for the Mark X. With an increase in cylinder bore size from 87 to 92.07mm the new 4.2 would offer more power in the lower gears and generally more torque, raised from 261 lbs/ft of the 3.8 to 283 lbs/ft. The new engine would still use the trusted 2” SU carburettors. Cosmetically, the E-type would retain it’s highly popular and stylish looks, however, an overdue change was introduced; new bucket seats. These new seats offered more support and comfort for both the driver and passenger, making long-distance touring much more enjoyable.

The series 1 E-type on offer has been highly enjoyed by it’s current owner and thoughtfully restored to preserve originality and drivability. Finished in green with a fitting beige leather interior accompanied by a Webasto sunroof, it is the perfect combination of style and performance. The engine and gearbox have been subject to a complete rebuild while the suspension has been overhauled with polybushes and Gaz shocks. The body work has been repaired where necessary which includes a completely rebuilt bonnet. The trim has also been carefully restored to maintain originality.
