GOODWOOD DEBUT FOR 289 MUSTANG

The 81st Members Meeting at Goodwood saw the debut of Guy Ziser's Mustang in the Ken Miles Cup...

This original 289 Mustang was brought to CKL just seven weeks ago as a standard street car. The team jumped on the project, stripping it down, installing safety systems and rebuilding all of the mechanicals.

“A great weekend with CKL and Guy - incredible work to get the car in seven weeks to racing condition.”

- Oli Webb

Oli Webb and Darren Turner chat on the way to the assembly area.

On the grid for the Ken Miles Cup, a one-hour, two-driver race.

Driven by Oli Webb and Guy Ziser the car performed well, albeit completing the one hour race in only 4th gear after a gearbox failure. In spite of this the car finished well in 18th place - not bad for a car completed only days before the race.

“The underlying potential pace of the car was obvious.

We are really excited for the rest of the season including the special Mustang anniversary race at Silverstone.”

- Guy Ziser

PETER COLLINS TROPHY

FIVE CKL SPORTS CARS IN ONE RACE

The Peter Collins Trophy for Sports Cars built between 1948-1955 had an incredible grid - five of which were supported by CKL. With some very quick drivers and cars at the front of the grid, the D-Type of @cool4.racing finished in an impressive P5, driven by Oliver Mathai.

The CKL entry also included two C-Types with consecutive chassis numbers. It was amazing to see them next to each other on the track, and to think that they were next to each other being built in the Jaguar Factory all those years ago.

“The weekend proved what an incredible team of skilled engineers we have here at CKL and it was great to see Chris Keith-Lucas stretching the legs of XKC016 around Goodwood”

- Mark Hews

Long-time CKL customer, BRDC member and purveyor of fine automobiles -  Gregor Fisken, kindly agreed to pilot the second D-Type entered by CKL.

Thank you to Simon Aldridge @octanesimon for the photographs above.

“A weekend of enthralling and exciting racing at #81MM. Thank you to @ckldevelopments for the drive in the D-Type, it was fantastic to be out on track alongside our recent sale, DB3S/5.”

- Gregor Fisken, @fiskens_cars
