This period correct 1951 specification tool room C-Type was built by Hawker Racing over three years 2018-2021. The car was painstakingly built by Hawker (whose parent company Hawker Restorations is a well-known restorer of Hawker Hurrican aircraft) to be as close to an original C-Type as possible, facilitated by access to an authentic original car for reference.
The engine is a Jaguar 3 1/2 litre unit with a C-Type head and twin sandcast two inch SU carburettors, and was fine tuned by Carl Gannon. The car uses the correct Moss gearbox, and the brakes are the correct 1951 C-Type specification drums. Jerry Booen handled the detail finishing of the car and the fit, finish and detailing are all outstanding. Power is estimated at around 245hp and the car weighs just over nine hundred kilograms.
With the benefit of being currently road registered, this car presents its new owner with the opportunity to relive the glory days of 1950s sports car racing on both road and track.
