CKL’S D-TYPE TRIUMPHANT AT THE WORLD’S NO.1 CONCOURS

Just six months ago we took on this D-type restoration with Pebble Beach as the goal. It felt like a victory just getting the car ready in time, so to win the biggest accolade in the business…we are thrilled.

"After we found a wonderful new custodian for XKD 526 early last year, @ckldevelopments embarked on a comprehensive originality-preserving restoration. Completed in record time, and to an incredible standard, the D-Type won the Post War Sports Racing Class at Pebble Beach over the weekend. The owner of D-Type XKD526, Mark Haddawy, applied his relentless ambition to get every detail correct down to the smallest rivet, a trait that he is known for in his professional life.

Combined with the knowledge within CKL, the working relationship with the owner, and our friends in the business, we were able to source thousands of period photographs to rebuild the car exactly to original specification as it would have left the factory. We were also able to locate and source the rarest parts needed to complete the restoration.

The restoration has been overseen by MD Mark Hews, who spoke with the owner in LA several times a day, to discuss the project.
