About Us

Leading the pack

Founded in 1999, CKL Developments has grown into the world’s leading specialist in Jaguar and Jaguar-powered sports cars of the 1950’s and 1960’s with an unrivalled expertise in C types, D types/XKSS, Lightweight E types, Listers, historic examples of the XK range and Jaguar’s sporting saloons.

In addition, we have worked on many other fine marques such as Allard, Tojeiro, HWM, Cooper, Austin Healey and Lotus to name a few.

Our roots

After 25 years as a Director at Lynx, Chris Keith-Lucas set up CKL Developments Ltd in 1999. From the start, Chris attracted a loyal customer base of people who value the knowledge, integrity and attention to detail that still characterises the work of CKL today.

Starting modestly in a barn near Battle in East Sussex, CKL’s growing reputation brought more and more business, and with an increasing workforce, Chris and team were eventually forced to look for more space and investment.

So, with the help and input of car collector and historic racer Stefan Ziegler, CKL moved into its current, purpose-built premises in 2011.

Our business today

With a strong management team, supported by our exceptionally talented technicians, CKL with sixteen thousand square feet space and state-of-the-art facilities is second to none in our ability to undertake all areas of restoration and race preparation work. Our global reputation is based on getting the details right, whether it’s a simple service job, a complete restoration project involving extensive research or the development of a race-winning car.

Approximately half of our workshop activity is focused on the restoration and maintenance of classic sports cars for the road, the other half is focused on track-related work for our competition-minded customers.

Looking to the future

So that we retain the personal touch and our focus on quality, it is not CKL’s ambition to over-reach (or seek growth for its own sake).

However, new areas of service are being added progressively. As we write, our car sales and sourcing service has just been expanded and we are continually thinking of new ways to help our customers get the most out of their cars.

The next service line could be arranging classic car tours for our customers or perhaps installing an in-house dynamometer engine test facility. Watch this space…
