This weekend we were split between Thruxton and Silverstone circuits supporting 6 cars across 4 different championships, we were at both tracks on Saturday with Sundays focus at Silverstone.
On Saturday we kicked off proceedings at Thruxton where we had Marc Gordon competing in the HRDC ‘Jack Sears Trophy’ with his XK150S, which performed faultlessly throughout. As usual Marc had more than one car to race that day and we enjoyed watching him darting across parc ferme to join the next grid.
In the next race, the combined RAC Woodcote & Stirling Moss Trophy with the partnership of Tarek Mahmoud/Nigel Greensall in the Lister Knobbly and Marc Gordon ‘fresh’ from the ‘Jack Sears Trophy’ and now in the XK140 FHC. Qualifying in the Stirling Moss saw the Knobbly starting on pole and with Tarek behind the wheel got off to a great start. After a double tyre change in the pit stop Nigel had some ground to make up and with his stunning car control managed to put us back on the podium in 3rd position with a class win. Just to show what the car is capable of; Nigel came round the final corner sideways crossing the line with the fastest lap of the race by almost 2 seconds!! In the Woodcote Marc Gordon secured second in class with some very respectable lap times and a big smile.
Meanwhile at Silverstone it was the turn of Rick Willmott in his Blue & Yellow liveried Low Drag to battle it out against his son Jack driving the AC Cobra in the Equipe Libre, Pre-63’s & 50’s. After a fantastic race Rick won his class, came in 2nd within the Libre and 5th overall whilst also gaining a fastest lap. Jack also managed some great times unfortunately his race was cut short due to an on-track incident, and he chose to retire the car rather than risk further damage
On Sunday at Silverstone, we were joined again by Marc Gordon who in his Jaguar XK150S secured 10th place in a rather crowded field of 37 cars in the first race, the Equipe GTS. Our final race was the Equipe Libre/70’s where Rick Willmott was in his newly acquired Pre-63 E-type where, despite being the first time in the driver’s seat managed a respectable 15th overall and 3rd in the Pre-63’s. We are looking forward to development of this car.
So, another great weekend of racing came to an end with a few more trophies for the respective cabinets. A big thank you to all our drivers and race team another fantastic effort.
